Maarten Grefte

Maarten Grefte is a Finance Professional with over 10 years of experience in Finance acquired in accountancy and with Robert Muntel Financial Consultancy.

In accountancy (PwC), I have worked for a variety of industries, from companies in trade and production to healthcare and a healthcare insurer. The work primarily consisted of the realization and coordination of financial statement checks and consultancy assignments. The consultancy assignments focused on, among other things, the set-up and quality of financial (control) departments and information provisioning.

In addition, I also did IT audits in accountancy. This resulted in a broadening of my knowledge in the area of business and IT, specifically the control and (strategic) use of IT. Every day, I can apply my on the job experience and what I learned during my IT audit training in my current assignments. The use of IT and correct alignment between business and IT is getting more important.

In 2013, after 7 years in accountancy, I switched to Robert Muntel Financial Consultancy.
I have since carried out a variety of assignments and have held different positions, from analysing the profitability of a business unit and making it ready for sale, to optimizing (financial) processes and implementing a new system. My positions were Business Controller, (Sr.) Advisor Planning & Control/Risk Management, Business Partner and Manager Administration, additionally fulfilling the role of Project Manager.

My focus is (among other things) on an optimum set-up of processes in combination with setting up systems to allow efficient, effective and controlled realization. Use of data will become increasingly important in this context. This is the reason why I will be further investigating the use of data, to analyse the actual progress of processes (by means of process mining), in order to achieve improvement.
In addition, I want to act as a bridge between business and finance, supporting the business in making the right decisions at a strategic and tactical level.

I get my job satisfaction from assignments where I can make a contribution to, or make recommendations for structural improvements. In my assignments, I aim for high quality and I act pro-actively and with a focus on solutions.

I believe that acquiring new knowledge is essential to be able to provide added value in the modern era. I also like to acquire new knowledge via education, seminars and courses, and to share knowledge with less-experienced colleagues.

I like to spend my spare time with my family and my three young children. My hobby is playing golf.
